Prayer Wall Challenge from our Youth Girls

Every week on Mondays from 7-8:30pm at New Hope, Morgan Baker and Alexis Bialas have been having so much fun teaching these girls how to live their L.I.F.E in the image of God. In the meantime, the girls have been teaching their leaders to become closer to God as well! And now they get to include our church, challenging them to get closer to God with their awesome new prayer wall for everyone to use!

At the bottom of the steps in the basement of New Hope is a partition wall, where you can add your prayers or jot down prayers to add to your prayer list.  Let’s pray for each other and grow in Christ as we do.  Remember if you are a 6th -10th grade girl, you too can enjoy L.I.F.E.: (Living In Faith Everyday) information below.

All Community Sermon Series (September 3 – 24)

All Community Sermon Series (September 3 – 24)

Many local area churches are uniting together this fall with one goal in mind: to show and spread the love of God, make disciples, and transform the city of Rochelle for God’s glory!  We are calling it “Revive Rochelle”.

During the month of September, each church will be preaching on the same topic. The overall theme will be 2nd Chronicles 7:14 “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”  Please be in prayer for this important community event.  God can do so much more than we realize when His church body comes together.

How Revive Rochelle Will Work

  1. We started off with “War Cry”: an All-Community worship event, that was on August 20th, at Atwood Park (the Bandshell).
  2.  Hand out Revive Rochelle signs – available to be picked up at church  starting Sunday, Aug 27th.  (one per family, please!)
  3. Starting September 1st you can begin using the prayer calendar insert to pray as a community. Pray calendar can be picked up in foyer or you can go to Revive Rochelle Facebook.
  4. Daily updates starting September 1st on Revive Rochelle Facebook.
  5. Starting Sept 3rd through the 24th we will all be engage in hearing a sermon series in church.
  6. September 17th – pulpit exchange for some churches.
  7. Small groups: Our vision is to invite each church to share a list of potential small group leaders: and then have study groups with people from a mix of churches!  Plan now on joining a small group during the first week of September!  (they will be offered at a variety of times: stay tuned!).
  8. City-Wide celebration: On the evening of Sept 24, we are planning a city wide worship gathering. (more information to come)

Churches that are involved in “Revive Rochelle” are – Living Waters, Presbyterian, Rochelle Methodist, New Hope, Harvest Baptist, General Baptist, Bridge Church, Faith Lutheran

An 8-Session Study on 2 Corinthians.   The city of ancient Corinth was much like our own modern-day cities: a melting pot of electrifying cultural experiences to be had, along with the myriad pitfalls of spiritual depravity. Still, Paul wrote to the Church of God in Corinth – meaning God’s Church is meant to thrive in any city and every circumstance in which we find ourselves. Paul’s letter is as timely as ever.

Over 8 sessions, Kelly Minter will lead you through the Letter of 2 Corinthians, exploring the anchoring truths of bearing treasures in jars of clay, meeting Christ through a pressing thorn, opening wide your heart in the midst of hurtful relationships, and what it means to embrace the lost and lonely as ministers of the new covenant. Each of us has a message to proclaim and live by: Because of Jesus the old has gone, the new has come.

Operation Christmas Child

Reminder:  This fall we will be doing Operation Christmas Child (a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse which is run by Franklyn Graham) This a ministry is where you take a shoe box and fill it with necessities and gifts for a child and then it is sent to a main warehouse where they will put a gospel message in the box and distributed to a child in need around the world.  The reason for the early reminder is school supplies are out now and they are at rock bottom prices. This is a good time to buy pens, colors, notebooks etc. for your shoe box. Questions contact Megan Dibblee @761-1878

F.Y.I: Once in while, boxes of groceries are sitting on the benches outside the front door of the church after service.  Those items are things that a grocery store will soon have to throw away because of dates.  You are welcome to take whatever you would like.  ENJOY!

Hospitality Ministry:  If you like to help people feel the love of Jesus, there’s a place for you on the Hospitality Ministry. The Hospitality Ministry is a fun and yet low-key way to get connected. The team will help arrange for meals for church families when needed (birth of baby, death of loved one, health crisis, etc.)  Other areas the team will help out in will be church functions that would include a meal.  If this sounds like a way that you could serve others while showing the love of Jesus please call the church at 815-561-8400 (Also, if you know someone in church that needs a meal please contact the church office.)

Interested in Worship Team? We would love to have more people join the worship team at New Hope and now we have a process through which that can take place.  If you love praising God vocally or instrumentally and think you might be called to join this team of worshipers, but you want to know what it would entail…You can now email Jake Waddle for a worship team application.  We want to help you determine if this is an area God may be calling you to serve in your church body.

Help Needed: In search of those who have an interest in learning how to run the tech booth.  Training will be provided. If interested contact Jacob Waddle or 815-501-3276

2017 Bible Reading Plan:If you have a computer smart phone or tablet, you can download a Bible app called You Version.  This app includes many different versions of scripture and reading plans that you can follow.  This year we’ll be encouraging you to check out one called OWNit365 Whole Bible Plan or Listening to the Word.  In the app you can go to plans and search for it by name.

Listening to the Word: A great plan to use during your commute to work or anytime you would rather listen to the Bible. This plan is a one year Bible reading plan with daily devotional by Randy Friesen, General Director of MB Mission. May the Holy Spirit challenge, encourage, inspire, convict and instruct you as you listen to the Word.

OWNit365 Whole Bible Plan: The Whole Bible plan is a 6-day-a-week journey through the entire Bible with two readings per day. The acronym “OWN” represents one daily reading from the Old Testament, along with one from the Wisdom Books or New Testament. Each day’s reading is designed to balance both the amount you read as well as provide a section which is easier to understand and apply to your life.
