Psalms: God is the Answer

The conclusion of our Psalms series was focused on Psalm 146.  This Psalm asks a very important question “Who can you trust?”  Certainly all of us have tried to trust various people and felt like we’ve gotten burned.  This Psalm agrees that will be the typical outcome because all men are mortal …eventually their body will perish and so will the thoughts left in their head.

So, who can you trust?  The Psalmist then lays out a very compelling argument for why God is the answer.  You  can trust God because He:

  1. Is the Creator of heaven, earth, sea and all it contains.
  2. Is always faithful.
  3. Executes justice for the oppressed.
  4. Provides food for the hungry.
  5. Sets prisoners free.
  6. Opens the Eyes of the Blind
  7. Raises up those who are bent low.
  8. Loves what is right.
  9. Supports the fatherless & the widow.
  10.  Thwarts the way of the wicked.

Do you trust Him?  You might say, I want to trust Him, but He failed me.  It’s not possible.  He cannot fail.  He might fail to do what you desired Him to do, but He cannot fail to do what is right, and good, and true.  Even in His correction He is perfectly loving and kind and good.  God is trustworthy.

How can you trust Him?  Largely it comes down to humbling ourselves.  The truth is that our perspective is rather limited.  On our own it can prove very difficult to know what is best.  Trusting God comes down to faith.  It is faithfully resolving to put our hope in Him.  Faithfully resolving that He holds the answer to any and every question.  Instead of looking all over for the answers, just walk next to Him.

What do you need to set as His feet today?

Where do you need to trust Him more?
