So after Jesus’ crucifixion, Joseph and Nicodemus collected Jesus’ body from the cross. Presumably they removed the nails and pealed Jesus’ corpse off the cross. Because they were on the verge of the Sabbath, which began on Friday at sunset, we know that they worked quickly to wrap what was left of Jesus body and limbs in strips of cloth coating Him with myrrh to preserve and aloe for fragrance to cover the stench of His remains.
What kind of people would do something like this for Jesus? Requesting Jesus’ body and then spending a tremendous amount of money to lavishly care for his remains is something that would only be done by someone who cared deeply for Christ.
The question we dive into this Easter is this …What would make a Pharisee like Nicodemus care about Jesus? How did he go from Pharisee to follower?
