Family Time: Consecrated Life

We continued our “Family Time” sermon series this past Sunday.  A Christian family is a group of people who are related to each other through marriage, birth, adoption, and/or are committed first and foremost to Jesus Christ, surrendered and living in His love, power, and forgiveness.  So, no matter what age you are, or what season of life you find yourself in, you always have brothers and sisters in Christ.

Being in the family of Jesus Christ means we are to live a “Consecrated Life.”  Consecration means to be be set apart for a special mission and for a special category of people.  It’s a life that says “Whatever you want to do with me Lord…..I’m all Yours!”

1st Corinthians 6:19-20 says “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?  For you have been bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.”  Just as our bodies and souls are set apart, so should our families and loved one’s be set apart as well.  All of our relationships are for the glory of God.  So, it would only make sense that our families would be consecrated as well.  The question for all of us is…..”Are we allowing God to take our lives, and our loved one’s lives, and do with them whatever He sees fit?”  This is something that needs to be reckoned with in all our hearts and souls.
