Being the salt of the earth, the light of the world, and a city on a hill is not something you can turn off and on. We are not meant to hide our light. Shining brightly means that we love and show grace, even as we speak and live truth. Living this way should not flow from legalism, but from the love of Christ transforming you. Shining brightly is something that happens internally not externally. Light has to come from a source. We can’t shine without Christ in us. We can’t be righteous without His righteousness.
