Above Reproach (Moral Excellence)

What do we need in order to keep growing in faith?  There is nothing we can do to add to our salvation to get more saved.  Yet there are things we are clearly called to pursue as Christians, which are a part of growing in sanctification.  Both Paul and Peter address these ideas.  In 2 Peter 1:4-8 we find a list of traits that we should be pursuing as we keep growing in faith.

The focus of this first message in our 7 part series is the idea of Moral Excellence.  Whenever we start talking about living with moral excellence people often throw out the ideas like: (1) All sins are equal, (2) We’re all sinners, and (3) Judge not.  Most often these objections are used to embrace mediocrity and a low bar of living.  While there may be a ring of truth to them, at least in part, they quickly become excuses.  Our goal as a Christian community should be to spur one another on to love and good works.   We hope you’ll join us as we dive into this challenging topic.
