What motivates a soldier to fight a battle? It seems that often the greatest warriors are driven by a desire to oppose evil. They are not fighting for themselves (since they know they may not survive), but for someone else and against a tyrant. There has certainly been a long list of tyrants throughout history who needed to be opposed, and there are always those who have opposed them.
2 Samuel 23 contains a list of David’s Mighty Men. They are battle tested soldiers and their greatest accomplishments teach us some important lessons on what it looks like to fight spiritual battles today.
