“I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13 While they might feel like the Biblical version of “You can do it.” Paul actually delivers these words to a congregation dealing with some serious problems. It’s not a quick pep-talk because they need to be more positive. When we look at this verse in context it becomes readily apparent that this is not a verse that promises us anything we want or that we can be anything we want. What God’s Word promises us is the strength to be faithful and persevere through whatever God gives us to do. When properly understood and applied, it is a tremendous source of courage and strength.
