What are you anticipating? In John 12 we see the fulfillment of anticipation. As Jesus enters Jerusalem for the Passover, the people wave the Palm branches (a symbol of God’s faithfulness) welcoming Jesus into the city and declaring that God had again kept His promises. Essentially saying, “What we have anticipated has arrived. The prophets promised a Messiah and we see Him!!!”
And truly the promised messiah had come, but not in the way they anticipated. They were called to watch for Him and to be prepared to welcome Him. Before His ascension Jesus said He would come again and that we too should be anticipating His arrival. In parables he challenged us to be faithful and watchful. Are we living in anticipation of Christ’s return?
