Why do bad things happen? This is an age-old question, which can prove difficult to wrap our heads around.
It’s easy for us to begin second guessing and then say things like: • If I hadn’t been in such a hurry…
• If only I had been more careful…
• If I had taken better care of myself…
• If I only I had listened to…
Have you ever felt like you didn’t deserve God’s intervention on your behalf, because of the choices you’ve made?
In some situations, it can be easy to see our guilt and feel we deserve the difficulties we’re facing. Sometimes bad things happen with no apparent reason or explanation. There is no one to blame and there doesn’t seem to be any way we could have avoided the pain. In the case of the miracle, we’re studying today, it seems that this individual felt some level of guilt for his situation. This made it difficult for him to seek healing. Maybe you can relate to the events that unfold in Mark 2:1-12.
