The Spirit Who Remains

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. – John 14:16–18 ESV

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. – Romans 8:11 ESV

As Jesus prepared His disciples for a season of uncertainty, He offered them a promise meant to steady their hearts: they would not be left alone. The Holy Spirit would remain with them – guiding, comforting, and strengthening them in every season. This promise continues to sustain the church today.

Over time, I have come to trust this deeply – that the life of the church is not carried by any one person or position, but by the abiding presence of God. The same Spirit who has shaped faith, stirred compassion, and brought renewal among us in the past is still at work today, quietly and faithfully.

In moments of transition, this assurance matters. God has not withdrawn His presence. The Spirit remains, and God continues to lead His people with steady, loving care.
