…waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ – Titus 2:13
For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. – Romans 8:24-25
As I wrap up this week’s reflections on hope, I was reminded that sometimes when we’re in the thick of something, hope can feel distant… like looking for headlights through the fog. When we’re in the hospital waiting room, or waiting to hear about the opportunity for a new job, or while life is at a standstill because we are going through a relationship crisis we never thought we would face, hope may not come as easy as it does when life is running smooth. That is the point of our hope! Life can blur our vision with uncertainty, weariness, or disappointment, but Scripture reminds us of that hope – real hope is never lost. It’s rooted in something way deeper than whatever temporary circumstance we’re in.
Titus 2:13 calls us to look forward to “our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” That promise anchors us. We are not waiting for something uncertain. We are waiting for Someone certain – Jesus – who once came to redeem us, will come again to make all things new. Every ache, every unanswered prayer, every unseen tear will one day meet his glory face to face.
Romans 8:24-25 reminds us that hope involves patience. We wait for what we do not see yet, trusting that God’s timing is perfect, even when ours feels stretched thin. Waiting with hope means resting in His faithfulness knowing that He is already working behind what we cannot see.
So today, if your heart feels tired from waiting, lean into the truth that hope is not about closing your eyes and wishing – it’s about opening your heart and trusting. The same God who gave you this hope will not fail to fulfill it. Keep watching, keep waiting, and keep hoping – because the promise of His return is as sure as His love for you.
